This Sunday, July 17th, Culver City’s Sage Vegan Bistro will host the very 1st Annual Vegan Grilled Cheese Invitational, with all proceeds of the event going to People for the Ethical Treatment of Animals (Hurray!).
With the purchase of a $15 ticket, guests will be able to sample each of the chefs’ ooey gooey vegan grilled cheesy creations, sip complimentary beer or kombucha, and vote for their favorite sammie. If you’re having a little flash back feeling here, it might be because Eat Drink Vegan is hosting this event – the same host of last month’s scrumptious and smashingly successful vegan food and beer fest at the Rose Bowl.
Follow Your Heart, makers of delicious vegan dressings, VeganEgg, and vegan CHEESE, will also be hosting the event. I love Follow Your Heart so much. If you’re ever in Canoga Park, check out their restaurant. It’s in the back of a little grocery store that’s packed with vegan essentials. Follow Your Heart will be donating all the goodies the chefs desire to incorporate into their grilled cheese sandwiches. Sweet!

I just got back to Northern California after a whirlwind trip to speak at the Animal Rights National Conference in L.A. this weekend, so I won’t be attending. If you go, consider me jealous… but also darn tootin’ happy because I know the animals win no matter who wins the competition. And that sure puts a grin above my little vegan chin!
Hurray for compassionate cookin’ for a cause!
