My best friend Becky who lives in Memphis swears it’s about 155 degrees out there this week. The soaring temperatures and humidity are making a lot of folks feel less than fresh. The weather isn’t quite so bad here in Southern California, none the less, it’s important to make sure we’re all staying hydrated. About 70% of an adult’s body is made up of water, and we continually need to replenish it.
That’s all fine and dandy if you enjoy drinking water. But I’m one of those very rare people who doesn’t. Kind of strange considering I’m an award winning health educator who constantly told my students “Don’t forget to drink lot’s of water!!”
The problem for me is: I think water is tasteless. Why drink boring water when you can have something yummy like orange juice or raspberry lemonade?? I’ve been drinking lots of coconut water lately because I love the taste, and secretly I think it’s just as good for my body as water, but alas, I’m facing my misconception straight in the face and… drinking water!
Spa water, that is!
Last week at work we were fortunate enough to have a catered lunch with lots of vegan goodies, and on the table at the end of all the food was a giant glass jug of beautiful colors swirling around with ice. It was labeled *SPA WATER*.
Spa water?? Ooooh, spa water!! Then I remembered how yummy spa water always tastes! I haven’t been to a spa in years, but that’s right… spa water is the one type of water that actually tastes good to me! It’s pure refreshing water, with the essence of lemon, orange and cucumber 🙂
So simple, yet so good!
So I decided to make some at home today, and I must say, it’s fabulous! I really like it!
And in this weather, it really hits the spot!
Just slice up half a lemon, half an orange and half a cucumber and throw all the slices into a large jug of your favorite spring water! I sliced two little cucumbers instead of half a big one. Shake and let sit for a bit, serve over ice, and enjoy!
Easiest recipe of the day!! One of the healthiest too!
And of course… vegan!
