When I went to Natural Products Expo West 2015 last March, I enjoyed a sample of the new So Delicious Salted Caramel Cluster Non-Dairy Frozen Dessert, aka: Vegan Ice Cream, and man, oh MAN, I could have stayed at their booth all day long just gobbling it up. It was SO good that it landed a spot on my Top 10 Vegan Moments at Expo West, and it’s one of my Top 5 “Stand-Out Products” that I selected as part of my assignment as an official editorial blogger for the Expo.
When I got back from the Expo, I wrote to So Delicious to let them know just how much I loved their Salted Caramel Cluster frozen dessert, and long and behold, they sent me the rest of their new flavors to try too! And you know what? They are ALL CrAzY GOOD!
This is hands down my current favorite vegan ice cream, no doubt about it! So if there’s anyone out there who you’re trying to nudge towards a plant based diet, but they’re having trouble ditching the frozen cow boob juice, introduce them to this sweet treat! So Delicious nailed it with this one.
What’s also cool? All the flavors are good! Whenever folks send me an array of flavors of a product, I often don’t like one or two of them (sometimes I don’t like any of them heehee) – but not this time! The Salted Caramel Cluster is still my favorite, but the others are only .0001% behind, all tied for second place. Even the Dark Chocolate Truffle, which I expected to be bitter, has a nice creamy, sweet, lighter-than-average dark chocolate taste.
Rounding up the batch are: Creamy Cashew (“A gourmet delight with a touch of fair-trade vanilla and a pinch of sea salt”), Cappuccino (“A creamy coffee-love’s dream prepared with fair trade beans and a touch of spice”), and the amazing Snickerdoodle (“A cinnamon delight loaded with chunks of gluten-free snickerdoodle cookie dough”). It really just depends what flavor you’re in the mood for. If I had my druthers, I’d enjoy a bowl of the Creamy Cashew right now! Mmmm…
The only downside is that I’ve noticed some stores have priced these sky-high! Not that they’re not worth it, but I can’t afford 7 bucks for a pint of ice cream. However, I did notice them on sale at Whole Foods Market for $4.99 – and combined with a coupon, I can get my hands on a tub for under 4 bucks. Now we’re talkin’!
As I always say, I think a whole foods plant based diet is best… I really do… but for an occasional indulgence, this is my new “go-to” sweet treat! Bon Vegan Appétit!
